About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee the sample entry area of the laboratory, including logging specimens into appropriate databases and rejection logs
- Receive, sort, and accession all biological specimens sent to the laboratory
- Ensure accurate labeling, proper handling, and documentation of all specimens
- Serve as an expert on accessioning policies within Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), specifically Cerner LabSeq and Epic Beaker
- Maintain accurate and organized records in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with ordering providers, vendors, and laboratory staff regarding pre-analytical details
- Identify and document non-conformities in workflows and support quality improvement initiatives
- Perform occasional specimen transport, including picking up and returning slides and specimens from various locations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience
- Two years of related experience in a clinical or laboratory setting
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with Epic, Epic Beaker, or Cerner LabSeq systems
