About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the sample entry area of the laboratory, including logging specimens into appropriate databases and rejection logs
  • Receive, sort, and accession all biological specimens sent to the laboratory
  • Ensure accurate labeling, proper handling, and documentation of all specimens
  • Serve as an expert on accessioning policies within Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), specifically Cerner LabSeq and Epic Beaker
  • Maintain accurate and organized records in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements
  • Communicate effectively with ordering providers, vendors, and laboratory staff regarding pre-analytical details
  • Identify and document non-conformities in workflows and support quality improvement initiatives
  • Perform occasional specimen transport, including picking up and returning slides and specimens from various locations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience
  • Two years of related experience in a clinical or laboratory setting
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with Epic, Epic Beaker, or Cerner LabSeq systems
