Accelerator Software Engineer

Etched is building hardware for frontier intelligence. We co-design chips, racks, software, and manufacturing to deliver best-in-class throughput and latency across both prefill and decode workloads. Our first products are heavily focused on inference.

Responsibilities

• Own the accelerator software that makes the chips usable across firmware, on-die software, and kernel-level interfaces
• ASIC Software: Collaborate on ASIC architecture, instruction execution, CPU initialization, bootloaders, IO drivers, and power management
• Platform Software: Work on microcontroller architecture, power sequencing, telemetry, and firmware updates
• Host-side Kernel and Drivers: Develop Linux kernel drivers, PCIe memory management, and high-throughput command queues

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
• Strong software development fundamentals (data structures and algorithms)
• Experience shipping and testing production-grade software
• Depth in firmware design, implementation, and debugging
• Familiarity with embedded architectures and IO technologies (ARM, PCIe, DMA, HBM, DRAM, Ethernet, UART)
• Understanding of systems concepts like scalability, fault tolerance, and consistency

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science
• Experience with hardware bring-up on new chips or boards
• Ability to solve ambiguous, under-specified problems
• Experience using low-level computer architecture details (caching, AXI fabrics) for nanosecond-level decision making
• Strong cross-disciplinary communication skills
