Academic Support Specialist, STEM

Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and train STEM peer and temporary tutors
• Provide one-on-one and group tutorial sessions in mathematics and sciences
• Oversee onboarding and training for new professional and peer tutors
• Assist with database maintenance and tracking of STEM tutoring sessions
• Help students develop problem-solving strategies and master STEM concepts
• Foster student engagement through active learning techniques and guided study sessions
• Identify student learning challenges and recommend appropriate resources or interventions
• Participate in institutional activities such as workshops, colloquiums, and commencement

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field AND 1 year of STEM tutoring experience, OR
• Associate's Degree in a STEM field AND 3 years of STEM tutoring experience
• Demonstrated ability to serve as a team or project leader
• Proficiency in using database systems and online platforms
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual skills
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience
• Experience working in a higher education environment
• Ability to tutor in Statistics
