Academic-Staff Affairs Specialist

Responsibilities

• Manage faculty-related HR affairs, including academic faculty recruitments, searches, and advancement actions.
• Oversee payroll entries via UC Path and handle transactions in Oracle Project One.
• Facilitate credentialing, onboarding, and visa processes (including amendments and timeline management) for the academic population.
• Develop departmental programming for employees and managers regarding performance, policies, and orientation.
• Support labor employee relations, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and grievances.
• Provide guidance, training, and direction to site-specific staff at various clinical locations.
• Serve as a key resource for faculty and departmental leadership, liaising with UCSF Central HR and the Academic Affairs Office.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related area and 5+ years of related work experience (or equivalent experience/training).
• Advanced knowledge of University rules, regulations, and protocols for personnel management.
• Advanced interpersonal skills, including verbal/written communication, active listening, and counseling.
• Advanced knowledge of administrative operational activities such as payroll, accounting, and event planning.
• Advanced proficiency with University-specific computer applications.
• Ability to use discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Strong ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and solve complex problems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) for Human Resources transactions.
