About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract high-calibre students for research-based graduate programs
  • Oversee the entire student lifecycle, including admissions, academic progression, retention, and graduation
  • Lead admissions committees and manage the processing of applications and entrance scholarships
  • Provide proactive academic advising and support to students regarding program requirements, policies, and deadlines
  • Manage program metrics and student databases to ensure data integrity and inform quality assurance strategies
  • Develop and manage program budgets and financial strategies to support academic goals
  • Design and deliver initiatives to enhance the student experience, including career development and community-building activities
  • Coordinate curriculum change processes and support the optimization of graduate and undergraduate programming
  • Provide functional and administrative supervision to support staff and student facilitators

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
  • 3-4 years of related experience in academic administration or program management
  • Proven supervisory experience with the ability to recruit, train, and motivate staff
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills to manage complex workloads
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Health Sciences, Health Administration, or a related field
  • Experience in post-secondary advising, counseling, or administration within a university setting
  • Familiarity with UBC internal systems such as SISC, eVision, or Canvas
  • Experience developing and monitoring program evaluation methods and metrics
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse faculty and staff groups
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and complex problem-solving skills
