About the role
Responsibilities
- Facilitate academic personnel matters for five Social Sciences departments, focusing on lecturer appointments, adjunct faculty, postdocs, and visiting academic titles.
- Enter hiring and payroll transactions in UCPath, reconcile payroll ledgers, and serve as a UCPath Initiator.
- Prepare offer letters and administer hiring and payroll transactions related to Summer Sessions.
- Interpret and apply University, College, and departmental policies, labor agreements, and federal/state regulations.
- Provide information regarding benefits to faculty and assist with securing necessary visas.
- Serve as a backup for the Academic Personnel Manager and support the hiring of academic apprentices (ASE titles).
- Provide analytical support and complete special projects for Chief Administrative Officers and Department Chairs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resource management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Proven experience in Academic Personnel.
- Proficiency with UC systems including UC Recruit, Opus, Interfolio, and UCPath.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Windows Operating Systems.
