Academic Officer (Math/Physics)

Responsibilities

• Assist students with academic queries and course content clarifications in a timely manner
• Assess and evaluate student submissions in Mathematics and Physics following Growing Success guidelines
• Liaise with the Academic Manager, Guidance Counsellors, and Teacher Markers to optimize student success
• Provide support to the Administrative Unit regarding academic content and course selection
• Stay current on Ontario Ministry of Education updates, initiatives, and policies
• Adhere to the Standards of Practice and Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession

Requirements

• OCT certification and membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
• Intermediate/Senior qualifications in Mathematics and/or Physics
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum and secondary school policies
• Proficiency with Brightspace LMS and Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong English communication skills (oral and written)
• Experience developing and providing accommodations based on student needs (AODA knowledge)

Preferred Qualifications

• French communication skills (oral and written)
• Experience in distance learning or online secondary education environments
