Academic Neuro-Ophthalmologist

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized care for patients with complex visual disorders related to neurologic diseases, such as brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, and stroke
• Evaluate patients presenting with unexplained vision loss, diplopia, visual field defects, and headaches
• Collaborate with neurosurgery, neurology, otolaryngology, and other subspecialists within a multidisciplinary team
• Serve as a consultant to referring physicians and provide direct patient care
• Teach and mentor ophthalmology residents, fellows, and medical students
• Participate in clinical research and scholarly activities within a supportive academic environment

Requirements

• Medical Degree (MD or DO)
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Ophthalmology or Neurology Residency
• Fellowship training in Neuro-Ophthalmology
• Board certification or board eligibility in Ophthalmology
• Eligibility for medical licensure in North Carolina
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered, team-based approach to care
