About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized care for patients with complex visual disorders related to neurologic diseases, such as brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, and stroke
- Evaluate patients presenting with unexplained vision loss, diplopia, visual field defects, and headaches
- Collaborate with neurosurgery, neurology, otolaryngology, and other subspecialists within a multidisciplinary team
- Serve as a consultant to referring physicians and provide direct patient care
- Teach and mentor ophthalmology residents, fellows, and medical students
- Participate in clinical research and scholarly activities within a supportive academic environment
Requirements
- Medical Degree (MD or DO)
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Ophthalmology or Neurology Residency
- Fellowship training in Neuro-Ophthalmology
- Board certification or board eligibility in Ophthalmology
- Eligibility for medical licensure in North Carolina
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered, team-based approach to care
