About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key academic personnel contact within a shared-services model for client departments, schools, and business units.
- Manage recruitment, search processes, appointments, and advancements for faculty and postdoctoral scholars.
- Administer academic personnel (AP) policies and procedures, including compensation, benefits, and routine leaves.
- Apply Health Science Compensation Plans and ensure compliance with UCSF policies and procedures.
- Act as a strategic partner to client departments, providing policy interpretation and resolving complex, non-routine personnel issues.
- Exercise independent judgment to analyze management issues and provide professional advice to senior officials.
- Maintain high customer service standards and adhere to strict confidentiality and discretion requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in University of California (UC) or other university academic personnel (AP) services.
- Proven experience working directly with academic appointees.
- Advanced knowledge of and ability to interpret system-wide and campus policies, such as the Academic Personnel Manual (APM).
- Strong understanding of compensation policies governing academic employees and health sciences compensation plans.
- Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to develop recommendations for complex issues.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and handle sensitive or volatile situations with political acumen.
