Academic Counselor

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one academic advisement to guide students through their academic journey and long-term career plans
• Facilitate group advising workshops and engage in e-advising to support student success
• Develop and implement data-driven advising campaigns to improve student retention and graduation rates
• Conduct graduation audits, perform degree completion confirmations, and prepare petitions to modify academic requirements
• Monitor student progress by analyzing reports and identifying potential areas of concern or academic difficulty
• Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, and campus departments regarding degree requirements and policies
• Maintain strict confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA regulations
• Coordinate with various campus offices to develop programming for events such as New Student Orientation and Commencement

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum of two years of experience in admissions, academic advising, student counseling, or related student services
• Strong knowledge of FERPA regulations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and modern office technology
• Ability to work with diverse student populations and maintain professional relationships

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in counseling, higher education administration, or a related field
• Three or more years of professional experience working directly with college students in individual and group settings
