Academic & Career Advisor

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic academic advising for a caseload of 100-150 undergraduate students, including online learners.
• Facilitate one-on-one appointments to discuss course planning, registration, major exploration, and grade improvement.
• Support career development through resume reviews, mock interviews, and job/internship search strategies.
• Promote campus involvement and healthy habits to encourage academic and personal growth.
• Prepare students for post-graduation success, including graduate school preparation and financial literacy.
• Act as a liaison for online coursework and specific academic programs to ensure timely information sharing.
• Collaborate with university departments such as Admissions, Registrar, and Financial Aid to support student retention.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date student information within the university database.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or 6 years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• A growth mindset and a self-motivated work ethic.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in academic advising, career planning, enrollment, or financial aid.
• General knowledge of the higher education industry.
• Proficiency with computer applications and the ability to learn proprietary software.
• Master's degree in Student Affairs, Social Work, or a related field.
