About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic and career guidance to first- and second-year and transfer students to improve retention and graduation rates.
  • Assist students with course scheduling, registration, transcript evaluations, and degree planning.
  • Help students explore majors and careers, connect with mentors, and develop personalized professional plans.
  • Teach sections of the Introduction to Onward course (AS 1100).
  • Identify at-risk students through academic monitoring and develop outreach strategies to support their success.
  • Collaborate with various university departments, including Career Services, Financial Aid, and the Registrar, to resolve student issues.
  • Develop and deliver programming focused on college transitions, academic success, and study abroad.
  • Participate in recruitment, enrollment activities, and student orientations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1 year of professional work experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Student Information Systems and Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas).
  • Familiarity with CRM systems such as Slate.
  • Proficiency with Google G-suite.
  • Strong customer service orientation and effective communication skills for one-on-one and group settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Prior experience in academic advising, career coaching, or student services.
  • Experience with Ellucian’s Banner product and Slate.
