About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide academic and career guidance to first- and second-year and transfer students to improve retention and graduation rates.
- Assist students with course scheduling, registration, transcript evaluations, and degree planning.
- Serve as a primary career advisor, helping students explore majors, connect with mentors, and develop professional plans.
- Teach sections of the Introduction to Onward course (AS 1100).
- Identify at-risk students through academic monitoring and develop outreach strategies to support their success.
- Collaborate with various departments including Financial Aid, Registrar, and Career Services to resolve student barriers.
- Develop and deliver programming focused on college transitions, academic success, and career readiness.
- Participate in recruitment, enrollment activities, and student orientations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- 1 year of professional work experience.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with Student Information Systems and Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas).
- Familiarity with CRM systems such as Slate.
- Proficiency with Google G-suite.
- Strong customer service orientation and effective communication skills for one-on-one and group settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Prior experience in academic advising, career coaching, or student services.
- Experience with Ellucian’s Banner product and Slate.
