Academic Advisor

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and group academic advising to diverse student populations, including exploratory, high-risk, and student-athlete populations.
• Serve as an Academic Coach for the CARE Program, assisting first-year and first-generation students with individualized academic plans and accountability.
• Develop student academic success plans and interventions by reviewing student records.
• Organize and conduct programming, such as workshops and presentations, to support student success.
• Act as a liaison between students, faculty, staff, and administrators to provide referral services and streamline processes.
• Support students receiving academic alerts by helping them identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in counseling and guidance, college student personnel, educational administration, student affairs, or a related field.
• Two years of academic advising, retention, or counseling experience.
• At least one year of full-time experience in a higher education advising capacity.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with students, colleagues, and administrators.
• Ability to maintain diplomacy and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Experience presenting to students and facilitating workshops.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment.
