About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide holistic, student-centered advising to undergraduate business students to support academic, personal, and professional development.
- Guide students through individualized academic planning, goal setting, and informed decision-making regarding educational and career paths.
- Monitor academic progress and implement timely interventions to support student retention, progression, and degree completion.
- Help students navigate university policies, degree requirements, and college-specific expectations.
- Connect students with high-impact learning experiences, including internships, study abroad, and networking opportunities.
- Support administrative functions such as new student orientation, registration, academic record accuracy, and graduation clearance.
- Collaborate with faculty, department chairs, and career services to ensure seamless student transitions and resource access.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and two years of experience working with students in an educational setting or related experience.
- Experience with academic or career advising and applying academic rules and regulations.
- Proficiency using student records systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Banner).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and Zoom.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability and willingness to occasionally work weekends and after regular business hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Working knowledge of learning styles, freshman year experience, retention strategies, and career development.
- Strong public speaking skills and experience delivering engaging presentations to students.
- Past work experience in academic and career advising at the post-secondary level.
