Academic Advisor

Responsibilities

• Oversee academic advising for a caseload of approximately 300 students, assisting with academic program planning and class schedules.
• Assess academic progress and triage students identified as at-risk of not passing courses.
• Respond to student academic inquiries and assist in the resolution of academic problems.
• Refer students to appropriate support services and coordinate with faculty and department chairs.
• Develop and maintain student files, records, and outreach campaigns using University retention software.
• Design and facilitate workshops for students and advisors.
• Assist with Registration Days programming and preparation each semester.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 1 year of advising or related experience in higher education.
• Proven experience working directly with students.
• Strong knowledge of FERPA and laws regarding student records and confidentiality.
• Proficiency with integrated administrative systems and current computer software.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse community.
