Academic Advisor

Responsibilities

• Advise students in the Arts and Sciences departments regarding course scheduling and academic planning
• Serve as the primary guardian advisor for assigned students throughout their academic journey
• Consult with faculty advisors to ensure accurate and effective student guidance
• Analyze transfer student transcripts and refer students to the appropriate departments
• Assist seniors with graduation checks during their final semesters
• Maintain accurate student records using Degreeworks and the Navigate system
• Monitor student academic performance and intervene with students on academic warning
• Refer students to the Career Development Center for major changes or internship information
• Support student recruitment and retention through events like Bulldog Days and various showcases
• Suggest outstanding students for campus honors and societies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum of six months of experience in Academic Advising, Counseling, Education, or a related field
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to maintain organization and focus in a busy, student-centered environment
• Ability to manage confidential information and use independent judgment

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or a closely related field
