Academic Advisor

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advising, mentoring, and support for graduate and undergraduate students from acceptance through graduation
• Offer guidance regarding transfer credits, course selection, and degree requirements
• Process academic forms such as petitions, add/drop requests, readmission, and withdrawals in accordance with university policy
• Conduct pre-degree clearance audits and final degree audits to ensure graduation requirements are met
• Monitor student academic progress, including admission status, advising holds, and academic standing
• Collaborate with the Registrar's office for credit and transcript research
• Develop and present workshops or seminars to enhance student success and engagement

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 60 college-level credits
• Proven track record of excellent customer service
• Experience in process management and problem-solving
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and ability to learn CRM systems, Canvas, and other university software
• Ability to type an average of 40 WPM
• Ability to work onsite in Virginia Beach, VA, Monday through Friday, 9 am – 6 pm EST

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in college-level academic advising
