About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive academic advising regarding degree requirements, curriculum planning, and academic policies.
- Develop personalized degree plans and monitor student progress to support timely graduation.
- Proactively engage with students via phone, email, text/chat, and virtual meetings to address barriers to persistence.
- Support at-risk students by creating success plans and connecting them with university resources.
- Serve as a liaison between students and departments such as Financial Aid, Registrar, and Military and Veteran Affairs.
- Collaborate with faculty and USNCC Success Coaches to support student retention initiatives.
- Maintain accurate student records and advising documentation within university systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in higher education, academic advising, counseling, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of professional experience in academic advising, student services, or customer service.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with the U.S. Military environment or service members.
- Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with student information systems or databases.
- Experience in a fast-paced higher education environment.
