About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive academic advising regarding degree requirements, curriculum planning, and academic policies.
  • Develop personalized degree plans and monitor student progress to support timely graduation.
  • Proactively engage with students via phone, email, text/chat, and virtual meetings to address barriers to persistence.
  • Support at-risk students by creating success plans and connecting them with university resources.
  • Serve as a liaison between students and departments such as Financial Aid, Registrar, and Military and Veteran Affairs.
  • Collaborate with faculty and USNCC Success Coaches to support student retention initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate student records and advising documentation within university systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in higher education, academic advising, counseling, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in academic advising, student services, or customer service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the U.S. Military environment or service members.
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with student information systems or databases.
  • Experience in a fast-paced higher education environment.
