Academic Advisor

Responsibilities

• Provide express academic advising to support student traffic and make necessary referrals to new and current students.
• Advise students on academic and career planning, including program/course information, scheduling, registration, and transfer requirements.
• Manage a primary student caseload consisting of online students.
• Inform prospective and current students regarding education planning, college services, and community resources.
• Respond to support requests submitted by faculty and students via the college alert system.
• Coordinate with Student Affairs peers, faculty, and leadership from Academic Affairs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Knowledge of current college educational and student services procedures and practices.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals from varied backgrounds.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver classroom presentations.
• Proficiency in current software applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in educational administration, student personnel, counseling, or a related field.
• Previous experience working within a higher education environment.
• Direct knowledge of DMACC educational and student services procedures.
