Academic Accommodations Specialist

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for testing accommodation requests, ensuring accurate processing and coordination of exams.
• Coordinate the scheduling and administration of accommodations such as extended time, reduced-distraction areas, and assistive technology.
• Communicate with faculty and staff regarding testing materials, procedures, and resolving potential delays.
• Train and supervise graduate assistants and student workers in proctoring and support procedures.
• Maintain confidential student files and records in compliance with FERPA and privacy regulations.
• Collaborate with the University’s ADA committee to evaluate documentation and interpret accommodation needs.
• Provide guidance to students, families, and faculty regarding accessibility services and the accommodation process.
• Generate operational reports on testing volume and accommodation utilization to inform staffing and space planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least one year of experience with testing accommodation services, disability services, or in an academic learning center within a higher education setting.
• Knowledge of Section 504 and ADA regulations.
• Experience with case management.
• Knowledge of FERPA and related privacy regulations.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree.
• Two or more years of experience in higher education disability or accessibility services.
• Experience supervising student workers or Graduate Assistants.
