About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and analyze tests simulating extreme conditions and misuse scenarios to ensure product safety
  • Identify potential failure modes in complex electromechanical and electrochemical systems
  • Perform intentional abuse testing including short circuit, overvoltage, overheat, overcharge, and forced thermal propagation
  • Define and build test infrastructure for swift, safe, and well-documented testing
  • Use failure mechanism understanding to assist in designing intrinsically robust products

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of physics and the physics of failure
  • Proven experience with abuse tests, specifically UL9540a and thermal propagation testing
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as MATLAB, Minitab, or Python
  • Experience designing data acquisition rigs and actuation systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
