About the role

Responsibilities

  • Examine, determine, and evidence title to real property or interests therein
  • Conduct investigations in public record offices to ascertain land title history and current status regarding liens, encumbrances, and defects
  • Search and examine all legal conveyances affecting land or estates
  • Abstract operative portions of conveyances to record title history
  • Abstract pertinent information from Land Court Orders, trust deeds, and other legal documents for the preparation of Title Certificates, abstracts, or chains of title
  • Assign and supervise other employees in the preparation of Certificates of Title
  • Maintain various files and records related to property ownership

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience involving preparing, reviewing, or extracting information from legal documents and/or records dealing with real property ownership or transactions
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States (citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or eligible under federal law)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a legal secretarial curriculum at an accredited business school or community college
  • A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with coursework in business law
  • Specialized experience in examining and analyzing real property ownership records to determine and evidence title
