Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Support Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and delivery of culturally enriching support plans for children and youth in out-of-home care
• Foster strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of cultural support goals
• Maintain open communication to promptly address and report any potential risks associated with goal implementation
• Ensure 100% compliance with cultural support plans
• Develop and deliver Cultural Awareness programs, activities, and training initiatives when necessary
• Advocate for and oversee adherence to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Placement Principles and related standards

Requirements

• Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
• Tertiary qualification in Social Science, Community Development, Social Work, or a related discipline
• Experience working in child protection and with children in out-of-home care
• Extensive knowledge of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities
• Demonstrated ability to work with families and communities from a strength-based, culturally appropriate perspective
• Current Driver's Licence
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
