About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and delivery of culturally enriching support plans for children and youth in out-of-home care
- Foster strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of cultural support goals
- Maintain open communication to promptly address and report any potential risks associated with goal implementation
- Ensure 100% compliance with cultural support plans
- Develop and deliver Cultural Awareness programs, activities, and training initiatives when necessary
- Advocate for and oversee adherence to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Placement Principles and related standards
Requirements
- Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
- Tertiary qualification in Social Science, Community Development, Social Work, or a related discipline
- Experience working in child protection and with children in out-of-home care
- Extensive knowledge of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities
- Demonstrated ability to work with families and communities from a strength-based, culturally appropriate perspective
- Current Driver's Licence
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
