1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support identified children in 1:1, group, or whole-class settings to ensure safety and access to learning
• Assist in developing appropriate resources, schemes of work, and teaching strategies
• Lead small group sessions and interventions to support literacy, numeracy, and subject-specific goals
• Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers regarding children's achievement, progress, and specific needs
• Support behavior management and contribute to a purposeful, supportive learning environment
• Attend to children's personal needs, including social, health, physical, hygiene, and first aid matters
• Assist with the supervision of children during non-lesson times, such as playtime and lunchtime duties
• Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and carers while acting as a professional role model

Requirements

• Degree level qualification or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and learning barriers
• Knowledge of strategies for working with young people exhibiting challenging behaviors
• Experience working directly with young people in an education or training environment
• Strong workload management skills and the ability to work independently
• Awareness of Health and Safety issues in the workplace
