Steel Fixer

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret building and engineering plans and drawings.
• Set out work areas and determine required materials.
• Use hand and power tools to cut and bend steel bars and mesh.
• Lay out steel bars, mesh, rods, and framework.
• Hoist steel bars, mesh, and reinforcements into place.
• Fit spacers and supports.
• Join steel reinforcement bars (rebar), footings, and girders by welding or with clips or wires.
• Fix steel bars and mesh to concrete bases.
• Build casts using rebar to keep setting concrete in place.
• Prepare and mix concrete; pour into prepared casts.

Requirements

• High School / ITI / Technical Diploma
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in a similar capacity
