Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Inspect materials upon delivery to ensure compliance with approved project specifications and quality standards.
  • Verify all materials used are compliant with design requirements, industry standards, and local regulations.
  • Monitor on-site material storage to prevent contamination, damage, or degradation.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records, including certificates of compliance, test reports, and delivery tickets.
  • Coordinate and perform material testing (e.g., concrete, asphalt, soil) and record results for quality assurance.
  • Identify and report material defects and non-conformance; prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) as needed and coordinate resolutions with suppliers/contractors.
  • Liaise with suppliers and contractors for timely delivery and resolution of any material-related concerns.
  • Conduct routine site inspections to ensure proper material usage and installation.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory safety and environmental standards during handling and storage of materials.
  • Prepare and submit daily or weekly inspection reports to the project manager.
  • Control material inventory and report discrepancies.
  • Participate in final material inspections and ensure all compliance documents are ready for handover.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in laboratory materials testing and field inspection
  • Expertise in testing and inspecting construction materials (e.g., concrete, asphalt, steel, soil)
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (ASTM, BS, ISO)
  • Material inspection certifications (ACI, NICET, or equivalent)
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication
