Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Define and document the complete Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) flow for satellite manufacturing, including assembly sequences, integration procedures, and test protocols.
  • Develop detailed work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers for design for manufacturability and ease of assembly.
  • Collaborate with test engineers to define test requirements and develop test fixtures and equipment.
  • Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams for timely material availability.
  • Coordinate with quality control teams to ensure manufacturing processes meet required standards.
  • Assist in the planning and setup of the satellite manufacturing facility, including cleanroom layout and equipment selection.
  • Evaluate and recommend manufacturing equipment, tools, and fixtures.
  • Oversee installation, calibration, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
  • Monitor and analyze manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate manufacturing documentation, including process records, test reports, and equipment logs.
  • Prepare regular reports on manufacturing performance, process improvements, and progress.
  • Contribute to the creation of "as-built" documentation for all manufactured hardware.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and internal quality procedures.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols in the manufacturing facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in aerospace, defense, or high-tech industries.
  • Strong understanding of satellite AIT processes, manufacturing principles, process development, and quality control.
  • Experience with space qualification testing procedures and standards (thermal vacuum, thermal ambient, vibration testing).
  • Experience with cleanroom procedures and protocols.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and manufacturing simulation tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards.
  • Experience with DFMEA and PFMEA.
