Engineer - Material

Responsibilities

• Obtain approvals for material submittals across all activities
• Prepare asphalt mix designs (Base, Binder, Wearing Course) and secure consultant/engineer approval and production compliance
• Prepare concrete mix designs, conduct plant trials, and ensure quality of concrete mixes
• Coordinate with consultants and clients regarding site activities and workmanship standards
• Control non-conforming products and inspect all incoming site materials
• Maintain all quality management documents, inspection/test records, and checklists
• Develop, modify, test, and evaluate various materials
• Provide technical advice on material suitability and diagnose faults
• Advise, plan, and organize inspections, maintenance, and repairs
• Oversee operational quality control processes
• Liaise with suppliers, customers, and development staff
• Supervise technical staff
• Conduct fracture analysis and prepare technical reports
• Maintain cycle time objectives and address supplier/manufacturer/customer concerns
• Offer material information/data to engineering teams and update material logs
• Conduct testing at external sources, interpret results, write reports, and communicate with client engineers
• Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results to determine causes and solutions
• Supervise tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure quality
• Design/direct testing and processing control procedures
• Determine appropriate construction methods, monitor material performance, and evaluate deterioration
• Plan and implement laboratory operations for material testing procedures
• Review submittals and recommend materials based on objectives like strength, weight, resistance, conductivity, and cost

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Knowledge of Abu Dhabi standards and regulations
• Experience with roads, structures, and civil infrastructure works

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years overall experience
• 5+ years UAE experience (preferred)
