Project Finance Associate

Responsibilities

Internal

• Support senior team members in the execution of project finance transactions, including structuring, negotiations, and due diligence.
• Prepare and maintain detailed financial models to evaluate financing options, project returns, and sensitivities.
• Draft internal presentations and investment committee materials.
• Conduct research on market developments, sector trends, and financing instruments relevant to renewable energy projects.
• Assist in the preparation and review of term sheets, loan documentation, and commercial contracts under guidance of senior staff.
• Coordinate inputs from technical, legal, and financial advisors into transaction workstreams.
• Ensure accurate data management and version control of financial models and project documentation.

External

• Liaise with lenders, advisors, and counterparties to support lenders' due diligence and transaction execution.
• Participate in meetings with DFIs, commercial banks, ECAs, and other financing institutions alongside senior team members.
• Manage ongoing reporting and covenant requirements across the senior loans of the Alcazar Energy portfolio of projects.
• Help prepare external presentations for financial institutions, advisors, and project partners.
• Contribute to the management of due diligence processes, ensuring timely responses to information requests.
• Build professional relationships with the lending community and other key stakeholders.
• Occasional travel required to target markets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, accounting, law, or similar field.
• 4-8 years’ experience in project finance, investment banking, private equity, or infrastructure finance.
• Solid financial modelling and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of financing structures and key project contracts (e.g., EPC, PPA, O&M).
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to renewable energy or infrastructure projects.
• Experience in emerging markets.
• Financial Modelling Certification desirable.
• French or Arabic language skills desirable.
• Commercial acumen and eagerness to develop negotiation skills.
• Collaborative team player with leadership ambitions.
• Self-motivated and interested in the renewable energy sector.
