Assistant Vice President – Internal Controls & Financial Policies

Responsibilities

• Support the assessment, evaluation, monitoring, reporting, and remediation of internal controls for the group’s financial reporting process
• Drive the identification, creation, and implementation of group-level financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance
• Support the implementation of the Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) framework and related governance and methodologies
• Assist in developing group policy for controls and control objectives for core financial reporting processes
• Analyze and document key business processes (including financial systems) impacting financial reporting using process narratives and flowcharts
• Perform risk assessments and manage the ICFR program, adjusting for changes in the business, scoping, and coverage
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement internal control improvements and changes to process procedures
• Execute risk and control assessments, operational reviews, and support system implementation reviews
• Collaborate with process owners to design and implement financial controls that ensure adequacy and effectiveness
• Develop and implement controls testing processes; monitor and oversee remediation processes for deficiencies
• Assist in developing financial policies, user manuals, and communicate the Finance Policy Governance Framework
• Manage policy documentation, drafting, review, amendment, and approvals in alignment with governance cycles
• Support the Group Finance Policy Governance Committee
• Map key financial reporting risks to ensure all are addressed by policies and coordinate necessary policy updates
• Liaise with policy owners and functional areas to keep policies reviewed and updated

Requirements

• UAE National
• Minimum 8+ years in internal controls & governance
• Real estate or related industry experience, revenue > AED 2 billion
• Risk assessment, IT and internal controls expertise
• Qualified Accountant (CA, ACA, or equivalent)
• Knowledge of internal control standards, financial policies
• Experience in project management
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Financial Controls or Governance certification
• Initial training with a Big 4 firm preferred
• Experience in writing corporate policies/documents
• Ability to independently manage large-scale projects
