Associate Director - Utilities

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee technical projects within the utilities sector, focusing on operational excellence and innovation.
• Plan work assignments, provide technical reviews, manage daily oversight and support to teams, and serve as an advisor within wet utilities.
• Supervise and coordinate groups of engineers and technicians, ensuring team utilization targets and compliance with project execution plans.
• Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective work and input into the development of engineering budgets and schedules.
• Mentor and conduct performance reviews, contribute to recruitment, and monitor project budgets.
• Solve complex problems and provide technical solutions to wet utilities design (potable water, sewage, storm water, irrigation, district cooling, hydrology, etc.).
• Provide technical support, act as main point of contact for wet utility-related tasks, and undertake design work as required.
• Perform quality control reviews, prepare technical specifications, and complete feasibility studies.
• Liaise with authorities for permits/approvals and develop construction cost estimates and technical effort estimates.
• Act as Project Manager for mid to large discipline-specific projects and support business development initiatives.
• Manage client relationships, contribute to proposals and bids, and lead communications with clients and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil)
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the utility industry
• At least 3 years in a leadership role
• Expertise in utility infrastructure, regulatory compliance, energy efficiency
• Strong knowledge of smart grid technologies
• Track record delivering complex technical projects on time/budget
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
• Leadership and team management skills
• Outstanding communication (verbal and written)
• Proficiency in technical documentation and data analysis tools
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment
• Willingness to travel within UAE and internationally as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineering (PE) license
